About

An accessible lens on animal disease

Animal disease is rising up the public agenda — avian influenza in wild birds and mammals, African swine fever across Europe and Asia, bluetongue and more. The data exists, but it is scattered across technical portals and rarely packaged for people who simply want to understand what is happening and why it matters.

What we do

OutbreakLens reads the world's open animal-health data each week and turns it into clear maps, short videos and a plain-English briefing. We synthesise, we signpost the authorities beneath the numbers, and we stay calm — informative, never alarmist.

Who writes it

OutbreakLens is produced by a veterinary epidemiologist, in a personal capacity. It uses only publicly available information and is not affiliated with, nor endorsed by, any government body.

Our promise

  • Every figure is traceable to a named public source and date.
  • Uncertainty is stated; corrections are issued promptly.
  • Nothing here is veterinary, trade or official advice.
